Latest method of Upholstery Cleaning

1. Preparation and Inspection

  • Evaluate the Material: First, identify the type of upholstery (fabric, leather, or synthetic) to determine the appropriate cleaning method.
  • Check for Special Instructions: Look for any manufacturer's care labels that may provide guidance (e.g., "W" for water-based cleaning, "S" for solvent-based, or "WS" for both).
  • Remove Cushions: If the cushions are removable, take them out for cleaning. This also gives you better access to the furniture.
  • Test for Colorfastness: Always test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area to ensure it won’t cause color fading or damage.

2. Vacuuming

  • Thorough Vacuuming: Use a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery attachment to remove dirt, dust, pet hair, and debris from the surface of the upholstery. Pay attention to seams, folds, and crevices where dirt tends to accumulate.
  • Use a Soft Brush: For delicate fabrics, use a soft brush attachment to avoid damaging the material.

3. Spot Cleaning

  • Treat Stains: Identify any visible stains (food, grease, ink, etc.) and treat them before the overall cleaning process. Depending on the stain:
    • Fabric: Use a fabric-safe cleaner or mild dish soap diluted in water. Apply with a cloth or sponge and blot (don’t rub) the stain.
    • Leather: Use a specialized leather cleaner for spot treatment. Avoid harsh chemicals that can damage the leather.
  • Allow Time to Settle: Let the cleaning solution sit for a few minutes but avoid over-wetting the fabric, especially on delicate materials.
